Jim Shooter sold his first comic book story, featuring the Legion of Superheroes, to DC Comics in 1966 at age 14. He was Marvel Comics' Editor-In-Chief from 1978 to 1987, where he revitalized Marvel and oversaw the company's largest growth since the 1960s. During his time at Marvel, he introduced company-wide crossover events, with the Marvel Superhero Contest of Champions and Secret Wars, and launched the New Universe. Jim founded Valiant Comics in 1989, Defiant Comics in 1993, and Broadway Comics in 1995.
