James Monroe Iglehart is a multi-award-winning actor of stage and screen.

Most recently, James performed the role of Louis Armstrong in A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical. You may have seen James on Broadway in shows such as Spamalot as King Arthur, Hamilton in the dual roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson, Chicago as Billy Flynn, and the Broadway hit Freestyle Love Supreme. He also starred as Nathan Detroit in Guys & Dolls at the Kennedy Center.

He is best known for his Tony Award-winning performance as Genie in the Broadway hit Disney’s Aladdin.

On television, James has appeared in shows like Netflix’s Maniac (recurring), Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (recurring), Gotham, Elementary, Law & Order: SVU, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and the Disney+ movie DisEnchanted.

He has had two sold-out runs at 54 Below, performed at Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, and in concerts around the country.

James has also lent his voice to many animated characters, including Asmodeus in Helluva Boss, Zestial in Hazbin Hotel, characters in Disney Jr. SuperKitties, Disney’s Kiff, Lance Strongbow in Disney’s Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventures, Taurus Bulba in Disney’s DuckTales, as well as roles in Vampirina, Elena of Avalor, Blue’s Clues, and Sesame Street.

A self-proclaimed animation, comic book, and pro wrestling nerd, James has written three comic book stories for Marvel Comics and is one of the co-hosts of the Marvel Comics podcast This Week In Marvel on SiriusXM and wherever you listen to podcasts.

When he’s not on stage, he’s usually watching pro wrestling or Disney+ while relaxing with his wife of over 20 years, Dawn.
